Artspace Lifespace

Doug is a founding member of The Artspace Lifespace Project which originally came together as an arts collective in West London in 1992. After the success of initial Bristol Projects in 2005/06 the name and ethos was taken up once more and a community interest company was formed to develop and manage projects for the Bristol creative community.

With the Invisible Circus as its sister company Artspace took on managing and making available the sites used as Circus show venues to other groups and individuals looking for space and resources to create and show their work.

Since 2006 with the establishing of The Bristol Arts Trade Centre in an old car garage complex in Stokes Croft the Artspace Project has become a major provider of accessible space in Bristol with The Island having become a long term resource for the City.

After the success of the Bristol Arts Trade Centre in Stokes Croft the project took on its most daunting venue to date, the Old Pro Cathedral in Clifton. Derelict for over 30 years the crumbling listed site was transformed into a multi purpose arts venue to stage Revelations a 4 month rolling festival programme of alternative arts and music.
